History by Video Games

I was writing on my frineds journal (archaeopteryx) that I can really only remember my past in relation to what video games were out at the time. I can remember when and where I got almost every game/or game system back to the Atari 7800, and I remember when I was friends with certain people just by what games were out and I played with them at the time. We moved several times when I was a kid, so I often timestamp memories by where we were living at the time. It's pretty handy actually. Consistently making and leaving friends sucked though.

lol since 1996 my entire life goes by what movie was out, what theatre I was working at, and what auditorium said movie was in ... so I guess I'm weird too :-)

Yea, when I worked at Blockbuster it was kinda like that, I knew all the movies, and I'd seen almost every new release from 1997-2000. Sure I just got the second run movies, so you were probably always cooler, but I have a lot of video game memories from Blockbuster, as that's what I base my past on. :)

We should quiz each other sometime... I bet it'd be hilarious.

I'm not really like that about video games, but I am like that about CDs, for some reason. I associate a lot of CDs I listened to in my teen years (The Offspring, Green Day, Third Eye Blind, Rancid, NOFX, etc) with certain people and places.

I associate an entire summer to the Live - Throwing Copper Album. My friend and I both had that and listened to the cds and it was on the radio all the time, so you couldn't avoid it. I can kind of see my music progression though. So what was your 'Live' memory. I actually saw them in concert, they were one of the first bands I saw at Pine Knob ( ... )

I do that with music quite a bit. But I remember everything by what people were wearing that day. I can remember the clothes I wore on certain days, all the way back to when I was a little kid. It's pretty strange.

Wow, I don't remember anything that anyone wears. Because I don't have a girlfriend (this is my excuse), I don't even remember what I wore 2 days ago, and if it smells clean I'll wear it. ;) I usually don't buy new clothes, as the few shirts I get for Christmas or my Birthday are usually enough for the year. I'd like to donate away some of this stuff but I don't know what looks good, I'm a guy. ;)

This is a pretty interesting thread so far though. Because I noticed this strange memory behavior in myself, I wanted to see how it worked with others. Music, movies, clothes... Strange indeed.
