My doctor called me today at 7:30am to give me the results of my biopsy. The mole on my back was fine, perfectly normal. The one on my thigh was melanoma. I have skin cancer. had skin cancer. For the past year I've been living with cancer and didn't even know it. She said she's pretty sure she cut it all out, but still with melanoma cases they have ( Read more... )

i used to work for a dermatologist and you wouldnt believe the amount of people that would come for just a check up and would find out they had skin cancer. i think you just inspired me to make an appointment to see a doctor.

oh and your sister is wrong. they can legally tell you that on the phone. but only the doctor can tell you if something is wrong, not an assistant. i was able to let people know if it was benign and even then i had to get them on phone, i couldnt leave voicemails or anything.

Yeah everyone should get checked just to be safe. I was reading this one skin cancer article a couple days ago and it was saying all the signs of melanoma, and my mole had all the signs. I'm like, this probably isn't good. haha.
I was wondering if she was just going to tell me over the phone or not. but I'm actually glad she told me over the phone instead of making me go all the way down there to tell me. It was a lot less dramatic. I guess now it just makes me realize that it's not just something people threaten you with for not wearing sunblock, you really CAN get it. Scary.
