Here are my answers for the Five Things Meme....First up -
ac_123 - here are your answers .
(1) State of Play - otherwise known as the best tv miniseries EVAR. I have watched it over and over and I never get bored. The cast, the writing, everything is absolutely stellar.
(2) Life On Mars - it's obscene the amount of love I have for this show. It just works on so many levels. Both Sam and Gene own my heart and I'd be hard pressed to say which one I love more. I don't think I could actually. It exemplifies what is so outstanding about British television.
(3) Ripley's Believe it or Not - actually that's not why I chose that name for my L/J. That honor goes to Ellen Ripley - from the movie Alien. That movie came out in '79 and I thought it was revolutionary that they had a woman survive to the end. She wasn't some stupid bimbo waiting to be rescued. Also, I thought Ripley is a cool name.
(4) Politics - I'm liberal. Boring but true.
(5) John Simm - I could go on and on about him. He's so versatile in the parts he plays - although he does show a disturbing tendency to die in almost all of them. He is without a doubt the best crier ever. In LOM, he makes you feel Sam's pain and angst. I'm usually bothered when characters cry but he just makes the pain so believable and he's not some big, slobbery mess like I am when I cry. And his voice is so hella sexy, I could orgasm just listening to it.
These are the answers for
candesgirl (1) The Master. Oh yes. The role that made me fall in love with John Simm. I'd never even heard of him and I only watched those last 3 episodes of Doctor Who because of Torchwood and I knew Captain Jack was in them. So imagine my surprise when those last eps have both David Tennant and John Barrowman and I'm attracted to the crazy man dancing around the Valiant. I just knew he was something special. I loved how he played the Master as bat-shit crazy. I get tired of villians who are so mopey and dark - the Master knows how to have fun. Of course, his idea of fun is killing millions of people and having phone sex with the Doctor, but who am I to judge? Also, I would've voted for Harry Saxon.
(2) Ianto Jones - my sarcastic, droll, low-key, tea-boy. I may have started watching Torchwood for Captain Jack but I stay because of Ianto Jones. Captain Jack is all look-at-me drama, and Ianto is the calm at the center of the storm. Still waters run deep. Plus the Welsh accent and tailor-made suits are a bonus for me.
(3) Queer as Folk - (Justin) He's artistic and head strong and wonderful. The journey his character takes in those 5 seasons is amazing. I might not have liked all the decisions he made (Ethan, ewwww) but I never lost my love for him. I might have to bust out my DVD's again.
(4) Garbage. - I remember hearing "Queer" for the first time and thinking "Jeez, this is such a BDSM song." My love for Depeche Mode and NIN was already there so this was exactly up my alley. Then I saw Shirley Manson and fell in love. The red hair, the scottish accent, her ability to command attention and yet laugh at herself - it was all there. I knew Butch Vig from Nirvana's Nevermind (a favorite) so I thought I'd give the rest of the CD a listen - boy was I hooked. I still listen to them today.
(5) BDSM - I like a little pain with my pleasure. My favorite items are blindfolds and handcuffs. The ability to give or take total control over someone else is very addicting. Very powerful. At it's most basic level, for me - it demands total trust between two people. And that is a turn-pn to me.
Re:tattoos - I have a small black peace symbol on my left ankle. I'm hoping to get more, but I need to save some more money first.
