His first instinct, of course, was to break in while she was at work. It was always the easiest way to go about things since she insisted on being difficult at every turn, but somehow that seemed just too easy this time around. Jackson couldn't help but be a little bored with it, and why not try a surprise? That's why he walked straight to her door and knocked, the very image of civil.
Of course if she tried something he'd be forced to play her way yet again, but really, couldn't they have a moment of peace? He wasn't so rusty he couldn't keep an eye on her, have their talk and walk away scott free. It wasn't as though he didn't have their little arrangement concerning what she owed him to wave over her head.
The visit was in fact civil- a checking in on investments, he told himself as he stood idly by the door, waiting to hear her approach. He half expected her to go running for the phone but waited calmly despite it. If she was truly injured then- he knocked once more, fingers twitching slightly.
