So a couple of my friends have posts about their veiws on gay marriage, either there is something going on in their states or I am just out of the loop of what the hell is going on the US!  haha.  Either way, since both had different views I am just going to make a post of my views instead of typing it up twice ( Read more... )

The First Amendment is part of the Constitution. And there's nothing Christian in the original Constitution either -- though there is an explicit ban on any religious test being required to hold public office. It doesn't even mention God or a Creator (as the Declaration does -- though it was written by a Epicurean Deist, not a Christian).

Marriage is a civil contract which can also be a religious ceremony. Christianity claims a special sacramental role for marriage but that's not true in most other religions. Nothing's going to force e.g. Catholics to consider gays religiously married, just as they're not forced to consider divorced-remarried people as religiously married.

And if religion's going to enter things, what about religions that do recognize gay marriage? Aren't you imposing your beliefs on them?

God created marriage. God is the creator of ABSOLUTELY everything. We wouldn't be here without Him. You need to check out God's sovereignty because EVERYTHING that happens is for a reason. Whether it's good or bad.

I am sure that I didn't say anything about the president (or any official) having to be a specific religon.

A religion that recognizes gay marriage is not Christianity anyways (IMO) and it still isnt a 'marriage' it is a (to use your very own words...) a 'civil contract' period.

If they call it a marriage, why wouldn't it be a marriage? It's not like Christianity invented the word, or the concept of two people living together to be together and raise children.

"Most people seeking to condemn gay people point to the Book of Leviticus, where we read that men lying with men is an abomination. However, we rarely hear of other verses found in the book of Leviticus that are equally challenging. For example, Leviticus also tells us that eating shrimp and lobster is an abomination. And that a person should not wear material woven of two kinds of material-an impossible mandate for a pageant contestant ( ... )

Levitucus is in the old testiment where people were deemed religous by works and rules. Which the New testiment clearly clarifies that is not the way to Heaven and all the 'rules' were implemeted by egos of relious leaders, not God.

Alot of places in the Bible "speaking" has been the translation from "teaching" and in that day woman were not eduacated of the bible and Paul warned of being taught by false teachers (or uninformed teachers). I don't believe the bible permits enslaving, killing, etc, it simply states that it happened and that there were consequences.

I agree that we are to express love to 'outcasts', but even God had "chosen" people, he doesn't give everyone the same legal rights, but He does give everyone the same love and grace.
