Christians and the Casino.

I have two points to make today.

1) CHRISTIANS. Stop pushing the Lord on me while I'm working. I've heard the word. Kthx.

2) There is going to be a casino in Brandon whether you like it or not. The plebiscite shouldn't read "Do you want a casino in the City of Brandon?" as that is misleading. It should read "There is going to be a casino in - or ( Read more... )

Christians can be annoying that way.

Also, that's stupid and misleading on the casino thing

Indeed. I'm all for respecting religion, so why won't they respect that I don't necessarily follow the same one as them? It's kind of a nuisance question.

And yes it really is. Kind of a shame.

Oi no kidding. I enjoyed learning about the religion, because how different religions work is fascinating to me. That doesn't mean I want to follow the religion though, so stop shoving it up my nose

The casino vote was actually for whether it should be in the city or not. It was going to get build anyway. The choice was whether if it should be in Brandon or on the Souix Valley reserve.

If that were true then there wouldn't be heavy discussion about putting it on the very outskirts of Brandon. It isn't a "Brandon OR Souix Valley" question at all, and it never was. The public was skewed to believe that it was.

NO votes aren't going to keep it out of the immediate Brandon area, but everyone was made to believe that was the case. Now the big grab is to put it on the North Hill anyway. Had Brandon voted YES the casino would have had a guaranteed spot within city limits and an economic impact for the city. Now there is no guarantee as to where it will be placed in relation to Brandon, and the city gets nothing. It is, however, highly likely that the Souix Valley reserve will pick up the casino in the end.

That's how the plebiscite was. It was never a "Brandon OR second option" vote, which is a shame.

If it's outside city limits, it's still not in Brandon (which is a damned good thing). If building a casino was such a great idea, then we wouldn't need to vote on it. The city has voted "no" twice previously (I can't recall the years, but I think it was 1992 and 2000) on a casino being built in Brandon.
I digress. If it's going to be run by people in Souix Valley, we don't have to worry about it lasting for very long considering they couldn't keep their own resturaunt open on the reserve for more than a year.
