Smoke detectors tend to do that at the worst possible, random times (then again, Kelly may have been playing a trick on you-think of it that way, and it's a cause to grin, rather than for disappointment).

It's so true. She would have thought that was hilarious. I remember her telling me about how her dad was such a sound sleeper that he had to build an alarm clock that would literally shock him to wake himself up.

Here's a geeky fact: If the beeps had been grouped into 4 and 2, then it would have spelled "Hi" in morse code. :)
