Must focus on studying!

Maybe it should have been obvious but interpreting and translating are skills and therefore to improve you need to put in a lot of practice, especially for interpreting.  What I've realised that I actually enjoy gaining new knowledge which is not really what this course is about.  So I'm a bit unsure about my future plans at the moment ( Read more... )

I also recently realized that I like learning new things. I didn't get a job related to Japan (industry is dead where it concerns Japan) but I did get a job a relative big tour operator doing city trips and cruise trips. It's amazing what I learned within the month and a half I've been there already. Unsurprisingly my job isn't what's in the contract now as I "learn to fast to stay in that dead end job" as my boss said. We'll see how long my enthusiasm lasts.

So your job is going well at the moment then? I remember you saying you weren't sure about it before because of all the stuff that's not in the job description. It's nice to be learning things though! Hopefully anything you learn can help you if you need to get a new job :)

I'm hoping that there's an open day I can go to to find out more about the course. My family and friends are all telling me not to worry about that kind of stuff yet as I've only just started this course. I really like making plans though so I can't help myself!

I get what you're saying about scientific texts being uncreative though. So far in translation classes though we've done business translations which is definitely not something I think I'm interested in...
