Summary: “What’s this? A fun fare?”

Freefall.

Freefall.

Eeteuk tries the taste of the word on his tongue. If it was a taste it would be surprising like lemon, or maybe lemon-flavoured fizzy drink, the kind that you can buy in the summer when it gets too humid. He doesn’t quite get to decide whether he likes it or not because suddenly the apartment is filled with sound as someone arrives, slamming the door shut, kicking their shoes off and against the wall, despite Eeteuk’s constant nagging about the muddy marks on the wallpaper, and barges into the living room.

“What are you doing here all alone, dumb?”

“As polite as usual,” Eeteuk snorts, but feels happy, despite the name-calling, when Kangin throws himself onto the sofa next to him and grabs the multi-coloured leaflet from his hand. The shoes can be discussed some other time.

“What’s this? A fun fare?”

“I think they call it an experience park.” Eeteuk snuggles closer to his friend, as if though he couldn’t read the small print otherwise. Kangin doesn’t seem to mind, though, just wraps an arm around the older boy absent-mindedly.

“Set just outside Seoul,” he reads out loud, “our park offers the visitors breathtaking experiences from exotic creatures of the wildlife to well beloved traditional roller coasters. One of the main attractions is the famous Lighthouse of Alexandria, one of world’s highest free falls.” Kangin stops and turns to look at the umma to his appa.

“Hyung, I thought you hated everything like this. You even get squeamish in the elevator, you’re worse than Kibummie.” Eeteuk would blush if it was someone else than Kangin talking.

“Yah, you’re right, but I’ve never been to one of those free fall things. Besides, it’s not like I’m planning to go for real, that paper just came in with the rest of the mail.” They’re quiet for a moment, Kangin reading further and Teukie trying to steal glances of him.

“Maybe we should go,” Kangin finally breaks the silence.

“Yeah, that would be great. Fifteen minutes from arriving Donghae and Hyukjae would have gone missing, someone would have puked on someone else, Heechul would have bitched about everything and everyone, Kibum would have fainted twice and then Sungminnie would suddenly pull my sleeve, teary eyed, mumbling something about toilet and Missus Bunny.” The leader sighs dramatically, throwing an arm across his face as Kangin bursts out laughing.

“Don’t forget about Hankyung getting lost and Yesung getting into some bizarre accident involving safety bars and pretty noonas working in the park.” It’s Eeteuk’s turn to giggle this time. The trip of a lifetime, really! Manager-sshi wouldn’t let them out of the dorms ever again. Or, worse, he’d force them to go again, this time with cameras rolling.

“But hyung, seriously, we should go, just the two of us. Umma and appa only, no kids allowed!” Eeteuk smiles, his eyes turning to crescents and presses his face against the loudmouth’s warm, sweater-clad shoulder. Kangin smells like summer, be it however cold and snowy outside.

“There would still be no guarantee of me getting onto that freefalling thing. What if something went wrong with it? What would happen to everyone then?” He consciously tries to keep his tone light, but doesn’t quite succeed.

Suddenly he feels the body pressed against his shift and turn. Before he even realises, Kangin has pulled him into one of his infamous bear hugs.

“Don’t be so worried, sissy, it’s not like I’d ever let you fall down. We men are supposed to protect our women.” And Eeteuk feels happy, despite the name-calling.

Notes: No, a park like that doesn't exist. Yes, 'Lighthouse of Alexandria' is just about the dumbest thing I've ever used in a text, but heck, it works well enough here! ^__^;

So far all of my challenge fics have been drabble lenght, but this feels like a nice way to warm up. I'll have more time to write longer pieces next month when I'll no longer have work.
