As a vice-captain, Nanao uses ‘stop, look and listen’ every day. Walking towards her captain’s office the cold shinigami will stop, peek in and listen very intently for the tell tale signs of her captain’s presence and as to exactly how much sake he has indulged in. This makes it all the easier for her judge just how quietly she must creep into the office and just how softly she must lift his head in order to take the day’s paperwork from his desk.
This technique is not fool-proof; there have been moments where ‘stop, look and listen’ only made her an easier target for her lecherous captain. Of course, Nanao is able to fend off his advances with the well-practiced ease of someone who is used to such occurrences on a daily basis.
The vice-captain leans into the doorframe, her sharp eyes glancing about the room quickly, yes, there’s the distinct scent of sake but there’s also a distinct lack of her captain. Always a worrisome sign. She inhales sharply and stiffens, preparing to turn around sharply, but before she can do so a pair of arms slither out from behind her and begin to wrap themselves around her waist.
“Nanao-chan~...” He breathes, leaning against her, lips brushing up against her ear softly. Her jaw tightens and her eyebrows join together in a scowl.
She firmly takes a hold of the offending limbs and pulls them off in as much of a businesslike manner as she’s able to muster with her heart rate suddenly increasing. “Captain, stop,” she says, slowly turning around to give him a stern, no-nonsense look.
Shunsui grins lazily and ambles past his vice-captain and into his office, muttering incoherently to himself all the while. Nanao stands by the doorframe, watching him closely and listening to every drunkenly mumbled word loyally.
