I get so upset and down when people are presumptuous about shelter workers and animal welfare workers. It boils my blood and makes me want to cry in the same moment. I just want to shake people and ask them HOW DARE they think that way, without having to be in the thick of it. How DARE they condemn an organization for "killing needlessly" (not ( Read more... )

I get rather mad at those people who condemn shelters who euthanize as well. Whether they like it or not, some animals are too sick, too violent, or just too far gone to be rescued. It is FAR more humane to put them out of that misery and be able to focus energy and resources on the animals who can be rescued. And if people just got their pets neutered!! Argh. I firmly believe that people who have un-neutered pets should personally be forced to drown a hundred kittens. Ok, not literally. But if they were forced to see the reality ( ... )

honestly my job being a dog trainer/behaviour modification tech was much harder than the other job I had at the large facility, because I had NO power or authority. i was TOLD to fix a dog, and that was my job and I was NOT to argue. And when I couldn't, after weeks or months being told it was my PURPOSE to FIX THAT DOG, and the dog finally got adopted out and returned for biting someone (this happened a LOT, and every single time I predicted a case of aggression, it came true and the poor families had to suffer, and the dogs too) it just broke my heart. I worked SO hands on with them, trying to fix them day in and day out, six days/week, and for nothing. I did it because it was my job, and because I love helping critters, and I like serving my community... and in the end I wasn't helping anyone. I couldn't have my heart broken on a daily basis like that ( ... )
