Shattered (22/?) Emily/Naomi Part 2

Katie sat on his bed, swinging her feet back and forth.  Jack smiled as he studied his girlfriend.  He saw something different in her; a calming feeling had swept over her.

“Katie…” He said, as he waited for her eyes to meet his.

“hmm mmm”   she said her feet still swinging freely.

“You ok?”  He asked as he moved to sit down beside her.

“Yes.  Are you ok Jack?”  She asked as she rested her hand on his knee.

“Of course, why wouldn’t I be?”

“I know this all just got dumped on you.  Me moving in.”  Katie looked deeply into his blue eyes.

“Katie.  I am the one that offered.  I love you.  I would do anything for you.  Including helping your sister.  I think what the two of you are doing is so brave.”

“You do?”

“Yeah I do.  You are taking control of your life Katie.  Sticking up to the two people who raised you.  That isn’t easy to do.  But it was the right thing to do.”   Jack leaned over giving her a quick kiss.

“I know your right.  It feels good, I feel free.”  Katie said with a smile on her lips.

Jack smiled as he looked into her eyes; he realized that she did seem happy, free.  But he couldn’t help but feel like something was missing.

Emily waved at Katie as she approached her.  “Have you seen him yet?”  She asked as she stood beside her sister.

“No, but the bell just rang.  I really hope Mom doesn’t decided today would be a good day to pick him up.”

Emily shook her head with a chuckle, “Katie, this is Mom you are talking about.”

“True…”

The twins’ watched as kids filed out of the school in front of them.  Both their eyes scanned the herd of children.  Their brother was the target; they wanted to tell him about the changes at home.  Katie called Emily, asking her to meet Katie at the school.  She didn’t want their parents to tell him lies about why they decided to leave.

“Katie.”  Emily said as she elbowed her sister’s side.

Katie followed the direction that Emily was pointing.  Katie grabbed her sister’s hand.  “Come on.”

They walked quickly through the crowd, trying to keep their eyes on the boy.  They weaved left and right, the whole time their hands were grasped together.  They stopped in front of their little brother, his eyes blinking as he tried to figure out why they were there.

“James we need to talk.”   Katie said, grabbing her brother’s hand with her free one.

They sat on the park bench the twin’s on either side of their little brother.   “What’s going on?”

His small voice made Emily’s heart break.  “James.  Katie and I have to tell you something.”

His little eyes looked innocently at his sisters.  “Ems right, James.  When you go home tonight, Emily and I won’t be there.”

“But why?”

Emily looked at Katie, who nodded her sister.  “What Katie, is trying to say is that.  Katie and I aren’t living at home anymore.  It’s ok.  Mom and Dad know.”

“When are you guys coming back?”

“We aren’t, James.”  Katie said softly, wrapping an arm around his shoulders.

“Is this because of what Mom said about Emily being gay?”

Emily and Katie both nodded their heads at their younger brother.

“But, they will get over it!  Cassie’s brother is gay, and she said her parents were mad, but now it doesn’t bother them!  Mom and Dad could one day be ok.”

His pleading eyes broke both of the twins’ hearts.  “James, unfortunately, Mom and Dad aren’t as accepting as Cassie’s parents.”  Katie said, kissing her brother on the top of his head.

“Don’t leave me alone, please. “  James pleaded as tears started to fall from his eyes.

Emily and Katie looked at each other before their own tears started to fall.  They wrapped their arms around their little brother, afraid to let him go.

Emily stepped into the house, dropping her bag onto the floor.  She slowly made her way up the stairs of the quiet house.  She opened the bedroom door.  Naomi was lying on her stomach; her legs were bent in the air, swinging back and forth to the music that was playing from her ipod.  Emily smiled as she made her way over to her girlfriend’s bed.  She slowly climbed on top of the bed, straddling the blonde’s waist.

Naomi jumped, causing Emily to laugh.  Naomi flipped over so she could look at the redhead.  She pulled her earphones out of her ears; as Emily bent down to kiss her.

“Hey.”  Emily said as she stared down into blue eyes.

“I missed you.”  Naomi said reaching up to caress her girlfriend’s face.

“I missed you too.”  Emily said, a smile growing on her lips.

“Emily, have you been crying?”  Naomi asked concerned as she tried to sit up.

“Yes...” Emily said as she slipped off the blonde’s lap.

“Why?!  What happened?”  Naomi asked trying to make eye contact with the redhead.

“I don’t know.   When we told James, it was hard.  He begged us not to leave him alone.  I don’t want to, but I can’t stay there.   I’m happy here, I feel free.  I feel like I can finally live my life.  The life I want.   I don’t want to live with my parents, not when they are being like this, but it still hurts.“   Emily looked into the blonde’s eyes, tears fresh in her eyes.

“Ems.  Is there anything I can do?”

Emily placed a hand on the blonde’s cheek.  “You have done so much for me.  I’m happy here Naomi.  You have given me, my life.”

Naomi kissed her girlfriend hard, allowing everything she was feeling, be known through the one simple action.  She felt Emily kiss her back; she felt all the love the redhead had for her in that kiss.  It made her heart swell, but when she pulled away from they kiss she couldn’t help but notice something missing in Emily’s eyes.

“Hey, why don’t you go have a shower?  It will make you feel better.  I’m going to go grab some things for dinner.”   She kissed the redhead quickly before walking out of the bedroom.

Naomi stood in front of the house, staring up at the calmness that oozed from the outside.  She knew however, the inside contained uneasiness, anger, hatred.   She didn’t know why she came here, why she found herself standing in the place she was.  She just knew she needed to do this; she needed to do this for her girlfriend.  For the girl she loved, because the thing she hated the most was seeing her hurting.  Naomi took a deep breath before walking towards the front door.  She closed her eyes, picturing Emily’s smiling face, before she rang the doorbell.  She wanted to run away, pretend she was never there, but she knew what she was about to do was the right thing.   The only thing that could finally bring unconditional happiness into her girlfriend’s life, even if it might cost her, her own.
