Abilities: Rise has the ability to summon a Persona, a manifestation of her psyche that can aid Rise in battle. Rise's Persona, known as Kanzeon, is a pure support/defense Persona. While using Kanzeon, Rise can scan battlefields, glean information about enemies, and mildly refresh her allies after a battle. Rise can also use her Persona to locate people that she knows. Personality: Rise Kujikawa and the Idol Risette are two people who coexist within the same person. Rise doesn't have MPD or anything like that, but she does have a front, a side she shows the world and a side only her closest friends get to see. It's not that surprising, really; Rise is an Idol, after all, a Japanese Popstar marketed to the masses as an accessiable singer/actress/model. A good portion of her (admittedly still quite young) teenage years has been spent packaged as someone else. To the masses, Rise is known as Risette, a brainless, bubbly girl who's main concerns are her weight and looks.
Rise knows she's much more than this, however, and it bothers her. The pressures of Idol life have taken their toll, and it's evident in the way that she acts upon her inital homecoming back to Inaba. Rise speaks to Souji at one point about how when she was much younger she was shy and was bullied in school. A relative of her's sent her picture in to the agency she works for in an attempt to bolster her self esteem, and Rise was scouted right away. The fake persona she was made to use, the happy, cheerful girl wasn't who Rise was. She didn't feel like she had anyone who could really be her friend. She didn't think anyone knew the real her.
Luckily, those doubts are put by the wayside after she meets Souji and the rest of the Inaba crew. Rise only wants to be loved for who she is, and literally faces a manifestation of her innermost thoughts and desires: she wants to 'strip away' the person people think she is, and show everyone every inch of her true self.
She's beginning to learn that there is no 'real' Rise -- that one part of her personality is no more real or fake than any other. Accepting that was difficult, but it's done Rise a world of good. With the realization that she can be herself (and has people around her that she knows will accept all parts of her), Rise has grown into an amalgation of Risette and Rise. She's perky and bright, often being the first with a smile or a cheery comment towards her friends. She's fairly sassy, too, and she knows that she needs to push to get what she wants and isn't afraid of doing so. Don't think she's innocent, either -- it's Rise who suggests a drunken round of King's Game during a school trip, and Rise who wants to compare chest sizes with Naoto. She's used to the idea of stalkers, or running around in a bikini and actively encourages her friends in their plans, no matter how weird they may be.
This isn't to say that Rise cannot get depressed. In fact, after her initial retirement from the Idol way of life, and her return to Inaba, she was quite the opposite of her cheerful, perky idol self. Depressed, and melancholic, a few of the citizens of the town gave her the rather unflattering nickname of 'Tofu Shop Risette', though if she noticed (or cared) she never showed it. The idol life took it's toll on her, and it still does, on occasion -- one can imagine her becoming just as frustrated as she was the second time during her career, though possibly less so, due to the presence of her friends.
Rise finally knows she's not just some doll that people can wind up and display on cue. She's stripped away that false sense of self, and has accepted who she is. She is both Rise and Risette, and she couldn't be happier.

[ The feed of the phone clicks on mid-sentence, and Rise is looking off to the side, talking to someone -- or something. ] --like a cell phone?
'That's right, kupo!'
[ Rise glances down at the screen and smiles, giving a small wave with her free hand. ] Hi everyone! The cute fuzzy thing--[ The moogle protests that he is called a moogle. ] said that this Communicator was connected to everyone that's here. [ A sl ight pause, and Rise glances to the side, suddenly worried. ] But I'm not really sure where 'here' is.
He said I was in Traverse Town, and that my world was eaten by the Darkness.. Is that really true? [ There's another short pause, and Rise shakes her head, snapping out of whatever funk she had been in. ] Anyway, my name is Rise! Rise Kujikawa! He also said that some of my friends might be here, so.. if you are, tell me so I can come find you!
