know better, learn faster

I've just begun rereading the first Harry Potter book because I'm trying to introduce my younger cousins to the series. They're lazy readers, sad as it may be, so I've figured out that I need to read alongside them and then quiz them about the chapters to make sure that they've actually been reading and not staring aimlessly at the pages. Anyway, ( Read more... )

books, movies

I have read Harry Potter in Dutch but I got the English editions a long time ago. I intend to read them soon :S
LOL at the voice, now I have to forget this otherwise I can't read the books properly :D

I wish P&P came out on Bluray here! I love that movie to bits :D

Numbiness in the mouth is really weird *nods*

OR it might enhance the experience. Just saying ;)

Me, too! I've seen it so many times yet I never seem to tire of it. And it's such a thing of beauty as it is, so imagine what it's like in Blu-Ray!

It's even weirder when it's only half of your mouth.

LOL

I KNOW! I hope they will release it for this region too! *crosses fingers*

I thought it is always only half of your mouth, because if they would do that to your whole mouth there's a chance you swallow your tongue. So my dentist says. Or he's just scaring the heck out of me.

God, the first time I read Harry Potter was incredible. I was 9, I think, and it was a Christmas present-- I finished it by Boxing Day and I've been in love ever since.

Also, I've been wanting to ask you, would you rec Never Let Me Go by Kazuo Ishiguro?

It's been years and year since I've read the first few books, so I'm looking forward to the reread. I'm just hoping that my cousins will appreciate the books too, even though they've been pretty reluctant so far. Sigh. That's what happens when kids these days are raised on Hannah Montana and Pokemon.

Yes, definitely! It's kind of a quiet, reflective book, but it really stuck with me long after I read it. I also have the screenplay in PDF format if you're interested.

That then made me think of Aunt Petunia as one of Graham Chapman's female characters from Monty Python since he was so tall and lanky, and now I can't stop hearing his screechy voice whenever Aunt Petunia says anything.

Ahaha, that just made my day.

I might have cast the rest of the troupe as HP characters as well. Michael Palin would look pretty good with glasses and a lightening bolt-shaped scar, don't you think?

Harry Potter/Monty Python crossover! Wouldn't that be a dream come true.

I say wait until it goes on sale, then indulge. How gorgeous that film will look in high def!

Yes! Now that I've gotten the idea in my head, I don't think it's going to go away anytime soon.

I like the way you think ;D
