I don't understand the question and I won't respond to it.

I literally have no thoughts about the Emmys to share besides the fact that Jon Hamm needs to do more comedy. The man is good at being a goof and he knows how to look good doing it. Like Betty White said, back that mother up!

Anyway... shall we move on to the usual showcase of baked goods?

For some reason I'm craving carbs now. I can't imagine why. I never thought I'd say this about bread, but your bread is actually very, very good-looking.

I'm actually not going to fall all over the macarons; they do look lovely, but I've actually never eaten a macaron (THE HORROR).

Haha, why thank you. I do what I can ;)

No worries. They're tasty and they have an interesting texture, but they're not the end-all, be-all dessert that some people make them out to be. They just happen to be the trendy treat of the moment, like how cupcakes used to be what everyone talked about. Like I said in my post, I was all about the ganache. It was amaaaazing.

Oh god i'm so hungry now.

Your macaroons look so good. Last time I trie to make them they ended up like giant flat UFOs.

A few of the people at the workshop had flat macarons, too. I suspect it's because they over-beat their meringue. Or maybe they were just culinary rather than pastry students, so they're not used to doing things gently, haha.

UNFFFFF THAT BREAD. I CAN HEAR IT CRACKLE THROUGH THE PICTURE. I JUST WANT TO SQUEEZE IT.

Also, as a former B&N employee, I can tell you that when I ran the mystery book discussion group, it was a big flop. I even made desert-y shortbread to go with our Amelia Peabody set in Egypt! Everyone died over it, but the conversation? Not exactly mysterious or engaging. It's really hard to get a bunch of people that don't know each other to discuss a book they only sort of like, but I'm sorry you had a bad discussion lead by a boring proctor :/

I think the problem with the discussion was that the others in attendance were expecting it to be driven more so by the proctor. Some of the questions she asked were decent enough, but no one really wanted to discuss them. They were more into the word search that was sitting on the table than the discussion itself. That, and some of the samples that were offered to us from the coffee bar.

I love that you made shortbread for your book group. I would have loved to attend it with you there!
