yeah, but the "hong kong garden" version with the string intro was just about the best thing ever. i downloaded it and have been listening to it pretty much every single day. :)

I don't know, I disagree. I think what Sophia Coppola was trying to do was draw a parallel between the decadence of those times with what happens today among the rich and famous. And she did that extremely well. I was really entertained by the movie. I think that the ending showed just the right amount of character and strength that it took for her to stay by her family's side instead of fleeing. To go any deeper into the following time would take away from what the film was ultimately about.

Just my two cents! But yeah, the movie was so great.

Yeah, I see what your saying and I do agree with you. I knew from interviews before that thats the story she was telling and not a 'historical' account. I was just surprised the story ended where it did.

I haven't seen it yet...

But...

Think of all you know about her last four years--Especially to quasi-history buffs--do you think the movie was good to get you to the spot that most people already know about?

Were you, in any way, like... "oh, oh! That brings so much more to the story I already knew!" ?

I have the soundtrack by the way... trade ya for your opinion.

yeah, even though it's not supposed to be a litteral "historical" account, it's very very accurate to what's been written about her, only Sophia Coppola kind of tells it from Marie Antionette's view point. I did feel like there were a lot of moments where I was like "oh! So THATs what happened" There were a lot of moments in the film with real documented Marie Antionette quotes, which I liked, because instead of making a characture of the queen, I really felt like Sophia brought her to life.

oh you'll love it! That must be so aggrivating to hear about all these movies in the US and have to wait so long to see it yourself!
