I don't think that'll work. Even if I beat him, he'd be able to forge the χ-blade.

That's what happened when we got drafted. The only reason why we didn't merge back then was because he got sent back to his room.

I'll try, Frederick, but I don't think I'll have much time. If we fight, he'll probably try and get it over with as soon as he can.

[He pauses, trying to figure out a solution...]

Guess I could carry my journal all the time, that way, if something does happen, I'd have time to tell everybody.

Darkness can be purified.

[Hmm... He hadn't thought of that before, especially when Vanitas is pure darkness.]

It's a little hard to explain, but... [she'll give it her best shot] Everyone contains some darkness that, while not evil, summons a part of the being that urges havoc and bloodshed. It is possible to purify that darkness, ridding the person of what tainted them.

[That reminds him of what he's learned about the balance of light and darkness. However, his Master was fairly adamant that darkness is a bad thing... Hm.]

But what if the darkness is all they've got?

I just hope there's a way to do it quickly. The sooner it's destroyed, the less damage he'll do. If Vanitas can't find a way out of here, I know he'll go after my friends.

Aqua said something about... focusing on me and Terra, but I'm not sure what she meant.

[He pauses, thinking over Aqua's words. Maybe she drew strength from the Wayfinder? It'd make sense, and friendship is a force to be reckoned with.]

It'll probably take something really powerful to break it for good.
