[It's been a while since Ven's made any entries in his journal, but the kid's life has been pretty busy over the past month.

Fortunately, it's quieting down, and his spirits are high once again. It's the first time in months that he's totally at ease, and it feels great.

I wouldn't say it's fun to turn into a weird lil' black thing that has no mouth. ... And feelers. I had to hop around on claws and feet. If ya think that was harmless, I'd hate to see what the harmful experiments are like.

[Aww, Oswald. Ven didn't really think of it that way, but...

Hm.]

Well, for one of the experiments, they played around with people's feelings. Made 'em fall in love with the first person they talked to...

[Which was extremely awkward for him.]

Yeah... Yeah, I saw that one. But I think this one was worse.

[He can't imagine having feelings for anyone but his precious Ortensia. True love will always prevail, as is the Disney norm, so how could fake feelings created by an experiment throw a wrench in that?]

I guess it would've been weird having no mouth... I've got a friend like that, actually. Feelers and all.

I dunno. It sounds kinda fun! Meeting new people, learning new things. How bad can it be?

Trust me, it's not! You can use all that time you waste in school doing other things, gettin' out there and experiencin' the world!

Be glad you missed the experiment, man. It wasn't worth the time. [Hey, he's just glad he can talk again. Though he does miss being tall...]

I dunno. Being a bird couldn't have been that bad...

[Even if he didn't look like he could fly... He was big! And he probably ran really fast.]

I couldn't talk, and I had to stay outside all week. Beyond that? No, it wasn't that bad. I could definitely move a lot faster.

You couldn't go inside?

The school here isn't bad. I really like it, actually. They teach us a lot of the basics but they also let us learn about other worlds and where everyone comes from. And they work with us to teach us about the Filial magic, too.

I don't mind learning basics! Even if it's stuff I already know, it'd be nice just to make new friends.

[Besides, just being in a classroom would be totally new to him!]

That's part of the reason I go. You should come next time, a bunch of us are already there.

I'm thinking about it, but one of my friends says that it's more fun to be free and not worry about school. I dunno what to do...

If you'd like, you can sit in during classes for a day. That way, you can see what school is like before making a decision to attend.
