So I’ve had a few requests to update and I think it’s time. I’ll begin with this game thingy and hopefully I’ll start updating more than twice a year.

Alright so illusionedwords tagged me last week and gave me five topics to expand on. The list is as follows:
Beck
Sufjan
Kevin Barnes
Birdhouses
Mustaches

Beck:

Where to begin with Beck? I became Beck obsessed mid 2005. Buying Guero right before my three week trip to Europe and only listening to that cd on the trip doesn’t seem like a good idea for someone who’s only heard a few Beck songs, but I’m so glad I did. When I got back I bought every cd of his I could. And I went on a crazy downloading spree. His music helped me get through my senior year of high school and really opened me up to different genres of music. He still sits on the top of my list and he’s not looking to get knocked off anytime soon.

Sufjan:

Uhmmm… Sufjan. I don’t know what did it, but something clicked in late 2007. I bought Illinoise in 2005, but it took me a while to truly appreciate it. Most of his songs sound simple and just have that safe feeling to me. I feel so comfortable when I listen to Sufjan. And I always have to be paying attention to his songs. I can’t multi-task when I listen to him. I must see him live soon. I’ll drive up to New York if I have to! But I think it would be wonderful if he came down to my school and did a performance and took a tour. Milledgeville was the home of Flannery O’Conner and she is one of his favorite authors. Her house is literally five minutes from where I sleep. He needs to come down here.

Kevin Barnes:

Oh Kevin. This is a recent obsession. I went to an of Montreal concert last November and I wasn’t a huge fan. I liked a few of their cds, but didn’t have an song memorized so it was kind of weird being in the front row with mega fans. The concert was fantastic; one of the best times. It also didn’t hurt that I got a few guitar picks, got to feel up Kevin wearing only a spandex suit covered in shaving cream, got a set list, and almost got a drum stick. I went to another show in December and this time I was ready with the lyrics. Didn’t get as much attention from the band, but still got painted by some ninjas. Kevin did say hey to me while I was sitting outside the venue. :DD I can’t wait for their next show. I will take some friends and they will be embarrassed by my singing/dancing.

Birdhouses:

If my career in biology fails then I have my highway birdhouse stand back-up plan with Haley going for me. We’re going to make birdhouses out of any and everything- except wire, because I tried that and it’s a bitch. But yeah. Birdhouses are awesome in every way. Who doesn’t like a birdhouse?

Mustaches:

Another thing I’ve got going on with Haley. Our tremendous mustache children’s-pop up- scratch n sniff- touch n feel- guess who- and everything in between book. It’s going to change the format of books forever. I mean who doesn’t want all of that in one book? It’s going to take us quite a while, but we’ve been brewing ideas for a few years. And I just like mustaches, which can also be seen in the pictures above.
