Whole lotta shakin'

Apr 18, 2008 06:49

So I got woken up this morning around 5:37 to my house shaking. Initially I was pretty freaked, and at first thought it was a tornado. I hopped out of bed and looked out the window, and there were no tornado conditions. Turns out it was an earthquake tremor. Apparently a 5.4 hit originally in western Illinois and spread out quite a bit across the ( Read more... )

Thanks! We're okay up here. :D I didn't even know an earthquake happened nearby until I was watching the news. I'm glad to hear you guys are okay; the news footage they kept showing up here was of debris laying in the street in Louisville.

I know I woke up and fell back asleep a few times overnight, but I don't remember if at any point I felt shaking. I heard that people as far north as Milwaukee could feel it. What a freaky thing to wake up to...

So glad to hear you're OK. It seems like there wasn't much damage overall, if the footage they're showing you guys is that pile of bricks and rock from here. We have a lot of old buildings downtown, and that one just had a shaky roof already.

It seems most people in the area slept right through it. I know it sure woke me up, but I had to shake my husband (moreso) to get him awake. And guess what...Daisy slept through the whole thing! Great guard dog, eh? ;P

Thanks! :D

I talked to a few people up here to ask if they felt the earthquake and they all said they either slept through it or thought it was a big truck going by.

I just read about that on AOL. XD

Hope nothing too bad happened. We haven't gotten one in a looooong time, and this CA! ... Well, its Northern CA, nothing really happens up here. :P

Wow. Actually, I saw that the science teacher has this map thing of western IL and the surrounding states and this sort of spreading circle thing around it (I guess to show how the quake rolled out) and I didn't think anything of it. Crazy!

wow, actually I was up then and around that time DID notice that for about 5 seconds my desk swayed and monitor shook. I could feel the whole building move a bit but we've had a few REALLY windy days so I chalked it up to my apartment's shoddy construction.

Now I know. And Knowing is half the battle.
(thanks)
