Christian Guilt...

Ya know, it's like, if you're the "perfect" person, you never lie, you obey your parents to the tee, wait for sex until marriage, never use birth control, etc etc, you're still gunna go to hell unless you except Jesus into your heart. Oh, and if you say you accept Jesus into your heart but you don't "TRULEY" except him into your heart, you're ( Read more... )

I love you, Rissie. <3

And yes, Christian Guilt is a very frustrating concept. Consider this: from the ages of 11 until I was 16, I tried with all my heart to find Jesus. I attended a church I had no faith in, went to seminary every day, studied the scriptures, prayed at night that I would get that grand epiphany that most Christians claim to have had.

One day, I just... gave up. "Search, Ponder, and Pray" is the advice the religious leaders give you. It never worked for me; maybe it's just my cynical nature? So now I am agnostic - I have no religious faith, only a sense of right and wrong, but I would just love for that sudden realization of "THIS is the true religion!" to come to me. Until it does, I just try not to rile people up with the fact that I figure Jesus was just a pretty good guy that was built up a bit too much in stories. >.>

And yeah, Redding is WEIRD.

I abhor religions that claim everyone else is going to hell except their followers; given how many of these exist, it seems like everyone's going there! I don't believe God (or whatever higher power you believe in (if any)) is as narrow-minded and vindictive as his believers would make him seem...

Love you, Rissie! I have GOT to try to see you sometime while you're in town! :D
