with jess in japan and laura going to japan, i have to say ive been thinking about japan a lot. i want to go next summer (1 month), study in shinjuku for $3,500 (everything included), but ive been having second thoughts. i want to go badly but dave said something that made me question whether i should be going. he suggested that i start aiming for ( Read more... )

I think that either way you should at least go with us, if we all get the finances to adventure into the heart of the East. As far as going for a month is concerned, dave has a good point as far as the career thing is concerned and expensive bank rolls, but there's two sides to this, either one you can go and just have fun, study japanese and come home, or two you can go and maybe you'll find out what you want to do with your life, being on your own for a while in a world that you don't fully understand makes you think about that stuff, so it could be good. But like you said, its fully up to you, but I think you shoudl at least go with us all if we go, who would I turn to for translation on how to order food from a street vendor?

i think you should do the one month. youve got the oppurtunity to do it now and you might not have it again. plus if with everything included its only that much money its one hell of a deal, i paid almost 7grand to be here right now. if everyone else still wants to go to japan next summer thats not a problem, if you go for the month then you can still hang out with them. i do understand what dave is saying though, and we all are getting to the point in our lives where we cant just drop a few grand every summer for a vacation. i feel bad because i've never been able to go to japan on a vacation just for fun with the group. i just don't have the time or the money, what little money i make working goes to paying for school and the absurd amount in student loans that i've already taken out. i just think you'd get more out of the experience if you went to study, and by a lot more i don't mean just japanese. thre is more that people who look at you for a job think when they see study abroad, there's the (i guess, this is what ive been told ( ... )
