Database backed gallery

Right now I'm in the market for installing a new image gallery for my website. I like Gallery, but it's file-based, not database, which makes it damn slow when you get a lot of pictures, which will happen.

Anyone know of any comparable image galleries that are DB backed? I love Gallery's interface, so if it has one similar, that would be even

You want one that actually stores the images in the DB? Because that would be worse.

No, I just want one that stores the information about them so it can simply query the database about the image, not have to open and read through files.
