These two quotes crossed my path over the past few weeks via a couple of different social networks, and I haven't been able to get either one out of my head. Finally had to track them down and record them for myself

I have done a little bir of weaving, but not for years. My major pattern thing is looking at seemingly random clusters of information (visual information, usually, although it doesn't necessarily have to be), and finding patterns in the chaos. So the thing that would get me with weaving? Working with varegated fibers without first working out and positioning the repeats in an intentional design, and then once a section is woven finding patterns within where the colors have ended up. I don't need to find symmetry, but one of the things I tweak on with pattern-finding is balance. That's with strictly visual patterns, though. Numerical patterns don't have to balance out quite the same way for me, since so many numerical patterns increase infinitely (yes, I know visual patterns can really be broken down into numerical ones, and I switch between needing to quantify why I see them the way I do or just allowing myself to intuit.)
