strip, you screws

I attempted to replace my license plates earlier. The back one was no problem, but the screws attaching the front plate to the car would not budge, and I ended up stripping them. After getting WD-40 on it and everything, nothing would do it. Now I'll have to spend a good chunk of money to get them cut off. At least I have the license plate with ( Read more... )

drill out the stripped screws (literally drill through them), then replace with larger screws that will cut their own new thread as you force them in.

yay for having a mechanic BF. I'd just go grab a dremmel with a grinding bit.

oiling and drilling them might help too (I only know that because I've done it to eyewire screws)

Aw man. I am sad for you vicariously, because I have all the tools necessary to fix such a problem. ;(

Any respectable mechanic shop should fix that for you for free. I mean, seriously, we're talking maybe 2 minutes tops of labor with a grinder and a drill.
