1) Ive been wondering to myself: Why are the cambodians who have no clothes, no food, no education, no money, basically NOTHING, happy? How can they bring themselves to be happy? And why is it that I have clothes, food, education, money but i'm struck by periodic bouts of moodiness and dissatisfaction?

Haha maybe it's because the people around them are all poor!

I read somewhere that if given 2 choices:
a) earn $4000 while the rest around you earn $6000
b) earn $3000 while the rest around you earn $2000,

most people would pick the second.

Maybe we compare ourselves to the people around us and the people we see in the media and feel darn poor. :(

If I had to make the choice I'd pick the second too! Because it makes you feel good to have an edge over the rest, and right now, i think everyone is working so hard just to outdo everyone else, to feed our egos and prove our worth.

but anyway, if u think abt it, if u earn 3000 and everyone 2000, economics will tell us the the general price level will be lower than if u earn 4000 and everyone else 6000. Hence for a salary of 3000 , u will be able to afford more things than if your salary is 4000 and everyone else's is 6000.
