I think writing a letter like this is a good idea, but that you might need to be a little more polite in the phrasing. I think all of your points are good. The one thing I would leave out is the part where you mention writing to the newspaper, it's sort of a threat and could really jeopardize your standing with the company. I'd say just stick with why you think it's unethical and how it's a waste of money.

Haha, yeah im not actually going to use that... unless i need to resort to another letter. Which i most definitely will if they ignore the first one. Of course I will try to be a little more diplomatic about my approach... but I'd still like to sign it "Giant robot from outer space" :-D
