We had a blast! Just arrived back home yesterday. Our camp site was right by the south fork of the Merced River, and featured a swimming hole with a ROPE SWING!!! My grandsons had so much fun they couldn't stand it.

We were pleasantly surprised. When I made the reservations back in March, I did not realize the campgrounds were adjacent to the river. And our site was much larger than we thought it would be, and more private, too. It was actually bordering the river, with a short pathway to the riverbank. The boys were in heaven. The swimming hole and rope swing made it perfect!

Looks like it was great fun for all of you. I'm terribly envious!

Btw, like your hair cut very much.

Camping makes little kids happier than anything else, I have found. And my grandsons are no exceptions. That makes me happy, and makes life worth living.

And thanks, I like my haircut too. :-)

what a paradise!
what is the bear situation there right now? how vigilant did you have to be, with the kids running around, cooking food, etc?

The bears are always around, so we have to keep our food in a special bear locker at all times. We toss out our garbage frequently into special containers around the campgrounds. The bears are not dangerous as long as we don't tempt them with the food.
