On Christmas Eve I sat down to dinner with my daughter and grandsons Josh (13) and Alex (10). She had prepared ham, green beans, and yams. Josh said grace, and we started eating

That's so cute. But actually, I know dogs who do like yams, and cats who like cantaloup.

I didn't know dogs would eat yams. I thought it was funny Alex made that connection.

I think some dogs will eat anything, but yams are definitely not typical dog food!

Yup...dogs like the natural sweetness of yams quite often. And better for them than anything with refined sugar which is bad for them. Your daughter is right to make them at least try the stuff....often kids will grow to like different thinga as their taste and sense of adventure mature.
No dessert is a huge threat! LOL

Sweetie loved yams!
I'd boil them up and then mashed them like potatoes.
She thought they were the best ever!

I once had a cat who liked cantaloupes, but didn't know that dogs would eat yams. Alex cracks me up.

Now see, cats are 100% carnivores. But I guess dogs can eat a variety. I learn something new every day,
