My family probably has a few that would fit your bill. We keep them around for chopping wood on, among other things. No guarantees, though -- I'll have to poke around in the barn next time I'm out there. So if you get more specific leads, they're likely to be lower latency.
The closest we've got is a 4' diameter chunk of elm. It's been outside since mid-fall, though, and you'd probably need to cut it down to size with a chainsaw.
One other thing you might specify is hardwood like oak or maple or beech.
I'll keep a lookout for such, and it's absolutely the right thing to mount anvils & stakes in. Will you be at Arisia? If so, can I get my Foldforming book and the $20 for the guy who supplied the steel then?
Oh, I'd been meaning to message you about returning that! I'll be at the art show setup and takedown, but will be running around doing Mystery Hunt the rest of the weekend. I'll let you know when I've figured out exactly what time I'll be at setup/takedown.
Great - I'll be at setup on Friday afternoon (not sure exactly when yet) and we can figure it out from there. Absolute worst you can leave stuff for me at the Art Show desk.
