Have you tried buttoning the vest? It looks like you sewed the buttons too tight to the vest. There should be an allowance between the back of the button and the material to make room for the mating part (the other side of the vest). I very much like the purple thread.

It buttons, but is a bit rumpled--you're probably right about the buttons being too tight. We'll see if I have the time to redo them.
