The Farmer's market is foodie church, and since we are coming up on a high holy day, the place was a zoo yesterday. On top of it all, it seemed as if a good number of vendors had jacked up their prices, much to my dismay. I was still able to talk some deals out of my favorite vendors, though. I'm going to make that chutney, too. thank you! but i'm going to use some meyer lemon instead of lime because i already have that.
and i am braving the farmer's mkt tomorrow but 1. it is supposed to be stormy so a lot of shoppers will not brave the elements and 2. i have most everything except a couple baguettes and jalapeños. but we went to the supermarket today and it was all the same as your experience, a bunch of dipshits who can't figure out where they're going and think the store exists only for them. assholes.

It's so good to know that I'm not the only one who gets peeved by that! I go to the farmer's market every week, and yesterday I was imagining that for the whole rest of the year all these interlopers probably ate microwaveable entrees & the only reason they were even up this early on a Sunday morning was to impress out of town guests.
& the chutney! I am so excited to see how it will turn out. I was going to do the traditional Joy of Cooking recipe, but I think a more savory recipe will counterbalance the candied yams The Girl is making, especial since she is sure to be liberal with the sweeteners. Ah, and also this makes me feel like I kind of repaired cranberries for you, so glad I could be of service. That's almost as good as having you here in person. But only almost.
