See what happens? You go away for a while and I become a horrible fanwanker type. You must never leave me again. *nods*
Seriously, glad you had a reasonably good trip in spite of the mishap. One thing about my mom passing so suddenly--and this sounds weird--I can appreciate that none of us (including her, because she would have hated being dependent) had to go through the messy end-of-life stuff. It's not a bad way to go.
But on to more cheerful subjects: I'll be heading your way in LESS THAN TWO WEEKS!!!! I'm leaving here on July 4th and you're my first fangirl stop. I don't plan on rushing, so I should be there sometime on Tuesday, July 6th (probably late afternoon or evening) and planning on heading out from your place for Maryland on Thursday morning (July 8th). Does that suit? Just let me know if circumstances have changed, no worries.
AWESOME!!! That will be great. I'll take the 7th off so we can play. I've already told my boss that I will need a day off in early July for something far more important than work. ;D I cannot wait. \O/
I am so sorry about your grandmother. I hope she recovers quickly and completely.
Black Mountain is awesome! It was a serious contender for us to move to, before we decided on Bellingham. A friend graduated from Warren Wilson, and introduced us to the campus, and a couple of writer friends have done their low-residency MFA. Plus, although touristy, the shops downtown are interestingly touristy, and the town has maintained that small-town sense of history along with the fabulous studios and shops.
Man, now I'm homesick for Black Mtn. and All Souls' Crescent, and the drive along the French Broad! Is Malaprop's still there in downtown Asheville? Thanks for the nostalgia, and I'm glad you had a good time, despite the fall and scare.
