I know it was insensitive and even non-PC, but I rather liked the "stalking/stalked by" variant on the info pages this morning.

On our user info pages, they temporarily replaced "Friends" with "Stalking", and "Friends of" with "Stalked by". April Fool's Day and all. :)

I thought it was hilarious, and I didn't find it insensitive (but then I have never been the target of a stalker). I wonder if anyone complained...

I believe they did, yes, so they took it down. Which was very kind and all, but I thought it was funny.

That's both cool that they did it and a bummer that they didn't leave it all day...I didn't get to see it *wah* *grin* Oh well I guess I can understand that it bothered someone...though I believe when I have gone on random hunts on LJ I have found users who have modified their "comments/post comment" with that very same thing, or others have had more offensive things...but to each their own.

Yeah, I understand that someone who's actually been stalked could find it upsetting, and I hate to think of anyone being triggered unnecessarily.

On the other hand, I loved it and would be tempted to use it on both this and my other journal if it were an option. "Friends" seems a bit too intimate sometimes, and "stalking" as an alternative is really funny to me. I mean, I haven't been stalked myself (that I know of, anyway), and would never dream of actually doing it- so thinking of myself that way tickles me. :)
