Glee: Sunsets and Summer

“Tina.”

“Mike,” she replied, looking vaguely amused. “Can I help you?”

“It’s summer.”

“That it is,” she agreed, not looking up from her book. Mike flopped on the bed next to her for a minute and sighed.

“Why are you reading?” he asked finally.

Tina sighed and turned to look at her restless boyfriend. “Because I like it?”

Mike pouted.

“It’s too hot to move,” she said, tucking a gum wrapper in the novel to keep her place. “What do you have in mind?”

“Outside,” he said simply, sliding off her bed and starting for the door.

“…alright,” Tina sighed, following him slowly.

By the time she got to the patio door, Mike was already sitting on a blanket in the grass. Tina leaned on the doorframe. “What’s this?”

Mike looked up at her and smiled. “Somewhere new to sit and do nothing?”

Tina shook her head as she walked out into the grass barefoot. “I was reading, not doing nothing.”

“Whatever you say. Sit?” he asked, patting a place next to himself. Tina settled on her knees and Mike shook his head. “No, not quite.”

He adjusted a stack of pillows behind them and leaned back, pulling her into his arms and against his chest. Tina sighed and settled against him, tucking her head under his chin. Mike tightened his arms around her waist.

“You can see the sunset from here,” Tina observed. Mike was quiet. “Did you plan this?”

“…yes?” he answered, not quite sure if she was pleased or not.

Tina lifted her head enough to press soft kisses to Mike’s collarbone. “I love you.”

“I love you too. So.. you like it?”

“I love it.”

In the not-so-far distance, the sun began to set and the temperature started to fall. Tina and Mike never noticed.
