god darling i've missed a bunch of your stories and i apologize profusely.
this was a wonderful if frighting story. i can easily see how sanzo would fall into that trap of booze and pills. i'm very glad you turned it around so nicely. great job.
I hope you are still getting notifications of comments on your journal, my old friend, because I was just randomly poking around today, thinking about people I hadn't "seen" in a while, and came upon this, and oh, it was such a sweet treat. Nothing like a good old 535 to warm the heart. You did such a lovely job with this, weaving in the problems of Gojyo and Sanzo finding each other, and how Sanzo's addiction would impact so terribly on the whole ikkou. Just wonderful. Hope you are well! *hugs!*
Excuse me for commenting on something so old, but I saw that you still have your journal listed, and I read this story in the saiyuki_dark comm and LOVED it. Hope you get to read this comment at some point :)
I'm a huge 53 fan, and I struggle with exactly how dark I want to take my fiction, but your stories have inspired me to let more of what I really want to drag them through. Your Sanzo is gloriously human and flawed, and his (broken) coping mechanisms are entirely believable. Your story made me cry - the power of love lavished on the broken, and the struggle of the one who loves as they deal with their own flaws was just incredible.
Thank you for sharing this! Even after so many years, an honestly written story can still move the heart of a stranger. And this stranger appreciates it more than you can know.
