Today I told my supervisor that I was working on doing something else with my career. It was a big step, and she was very supportive and helpful

I second that emotion....the whole thing sucks. (And probably has a lot to do with why I still can't find a job, on a more personal level!) I wish we could designate where we want our taxes to go--that would be true democracy.
