I have been here for 354 hours and the dead still refuse to answer me. No stories, no pleading. No nothing. Perhaps Pallas was right, and the dead truly remain silent here. Perhaps they are just unable to recognize me in this body.

Whatever the reason, I must keep trying.

Have you tried to contact them in any particlar way?

Just by talking. I did sing to one, but that made no difference.

Hm.

Perhaps you should talk with those more connected to the act of dying itself that are in the complex? I myself have no idea of how to contact the dead.

What a wonderful idea, dear. Thank you. I will have to try that.

My daughter hears them still. Incessantly. Perhaps they do not know who you are, my river. Modern mortals are not terribly insightful.

Interesting. Is it wrong for me to feel abandoned by them?

It is not wrong, in the least. We need our dead. I worry, however, that they feel that we abandoned them.

I didn't think of it that way. Oh, I hope they do not think we've abandoned them. I would not want them to feel the way I do right now.

Watch yourself. I know where you sleep.

I shall sleep with one eye open from now on, then.

They are far from silent, I assure you. The modern dead... they are of a different mindset. Sometimes they simply cry out until they realize that someone does hear them.

I am sorry that you are pained by their absence around you, and I wish there was something I could do to help.

I am confused as to why they choose to ignore me. Perhaps Lady Persephone is right, and they do not know who I am.

Thank you. It's the thought that counts, as the mortals say.

I am not sure it is a matter of being ignored rather than each of us having our abilities muted or having some fault with them altogether.

Pallas is incorrect.

Please explain, Lord.

They are not silent.
