WTH?

I swear, the next thing that breaks, blows up, blows down, shuts down, quits working, burns up, or becomes a soggy mess will be chucked out the door with no remorse.

For the better part of 2 months, life has been much like the end times are happening!

Ohio has been caught in that massive heat wave affecting the east coast/Great Lakes region ( Read more... )

Oh goodness, how are you doing?

Stupid question, sorry.

Can I do something for you?

Better.

I swear, American weather is so scary.

We had a bit of (minor, wee, tiny, really) things-breaking-avalanche ourselves. First, our washing machine decided to no longer rinse or spin, then we were busy packing things into boxes and Ida toppled over her folded-up pram - right into my parent´s glass door. Luckily she was not hurt. I don´t even want to start with glasses and small appliances that were lost in the last few days.

American weather is stupidly scary, I tell you. We get the weirdest, freakiest stuff I've ever seen.

Nothing to be done at the moment, other than I or you need to make a 'How are things coming' post at the LBB. Let me know if you want to do that or if I'm doing it.

OMG OMG OMG, poor Ida! I'm so glad she's not hurt - the horrifying thought of what could've happened is... ugh, gives me the shivers. When do you get to Scotland?

When is the post due?

I am totally out of the loop. I have been checking the mod email, though.

I will be flying on 18 July, in exactly one week. Our landlord has promised working internet from day one but I am doubtful.

Post can be whenever, but probably soon.

Glad you're keeping up on email.

Ooo, so soon! Are you excited? I would be. I hope you have a safe trip.

Random observation but I don't think I realized you were in Ohio (or I forgot *scratches head*). I'm near DC myself. That was one fun storm I must say, though thankfully I didn't lose power.

I think you've used up all the crazy reasons for the power to go out until the next ice storm or something. So you're good for a few months. ;)

And I had no idea you were so close to D.C. I'm assuming you're in VA - what part? My father-in-law is on W Street near the capital. We might be visiting them in August.

LMAO, yeah, I couldn't make this stuff up if I tried. Truth is so much stranger than fiction. Gotcha - the next major catastrophe, I'm calling in dead. ;)

And btw - HAPPY BELATED BIRTHDAY! *glomps* Hope it was a great day and that the coming year is MUCH better than the last.

Thanks for the birthday wishes! *smooches* I do hope the next one's a good one. :D

I'm in Leesburg--just about an hour exactly from downtown when the traffic behaves, of course. Also, August in DC is a good time. LOL Hazy, hot and humid FTW. You're in Columbus (I looked at your profile once I realized it might say there LOL)? I lived in Oxford for a bit when I was little and my dad taught at Miami and my mom's from Canton.

Seriously, I hope all the excitement settles down! Too much drama.

Way too much drama. That's cool you have some Ohio roots! Come back any time. ;) LOL

Yeah, D.C. in August. Joy. *snorts* Been there, don't wanna, but gotta.

*clings to you and squishes* We got lucky enough to be on the half of Hamilton that didn't lose power when that storm hit, but there were trees down all over the roads and lots of lost power on the other side of town. Hope things settle down up there for you, bb! :(

OMG, you are so lucky! My cousin lives in Hamilton and she lost power.

Things are okay... for the most part. Knock on wood.

*hugs*

OMFG. I can't believe that a train blew up so close to where you are. Are the fumes from that explosion anything to be concerned about? *pets you* It's got to all let up soon. Damn. What's next? *hugs*

I know, right??? I was awakened out of dead sleep, and I was like, WTH?? And what was eerie, was that it was dead silent outside, no night time noises and such. That's what made me think the electric had gone off.

The wreckage is actually still burning - there's still 2 tankers that didn't rupture, but they have to let the fuel burn off because it's too hot to get near enough. The air smelled iffy when I pulled out of the garage this morning, but I'm guessing we're still okay.

And don't ask what's next... I don't think I want to know!

Jeez. I hope all is okay! Good to know you're safe though!

Monsoon season is upon us over here...we get 100+ days and then crazy stormy in the afternoons/evenings. Since we say, get rain maybe 30 days out of the year, it's always a cause to celebrate.

Holy crap! Are you in the Southwest? The Midwest would love that rain right about now.

Yeah, everything is okay so far. Knock on wood. ;)

I think we went 90 days without rain before late June which is when we had our first rain. And I was out of town for it!!!
