Summary: They're all he sees, even when they see nothing (and everything) at all.
Rolo loves his brother. And it's clear in everything he does. His brother is the one he breathes, keeps his heart beating, and is his entire life. But sometimes, the one he sees isn't Lelouch.
It happens at any given time. One moment, they might be sharing a cup of cocoa. He'll laugh softly and the dark chuckling accompanying his shifts in his ears to something just a tone lighter. It might happen when they're arguing, but that's infrequent when what they argue is so different. But when he's held, his brother's cologne will remind him of the way darkness would smell.
The worst moments--or maybe the best; he's never sure--are when his brother is deep inside him, rocking their hips together in the way that drives him mad. The hands on his skin would look different. Fingers aren't nearly as long. They seem newer, as if recently created, and yet well worn. And the hair. He'll blink and it's no longer black but a shade of gray it appears white. The voice sounds different too. The one whispering "Rolo. God, Rolo--!" is not nearly so dark.
He knows it's wrong. Especially when orgasm hits and the name he almost screams is close but still so different from "nii-san". He sees "Nise-san" who is not his "nii-san", but whom he'd want to be his "Nise-san".
Rolo also knows he's not the only one that sees Nise (and yet never sees him, even if Nise is right there and aching to touch him). He can tell by the way she gives that other silver-haired man looks. Subtle, and unnoticeable to anyone else save perhaps him, because he knows how it feels. There are similarities between the two men, but Allen is not Nise (just like Lelouch is not Nise). And Namine doesn't smile as much as she used to. And he wishes he could help. That maybe together in their shared longing they could find a bonding. But he doubts that will bring a smile to her lips.
Sometimes he wonders if she sees him when that other man is kissing her. Like when he sometimes sees Nise when he kisses his brother. But that wouldn't bring a smile to her lips either.
And because one can never escape cruel irony in Toujours, they aren't unseen. Nise sees them. All the time. When they cry or when they scream. Rolo's name is on Nise's lips while he reaches out to touch, watching as Lelouch sinks into the younger boy's body time after time. Namine's lips are touched, ever so soft and gentle, in hopes of coaxing a smile. But it never comes.
Because they're all he sees, even when they see nothing at all. (Even when they see him everywhere.)
