It says something ...

... about how stressed-depressed-angry you've been when someone you know very casually says you're looking much more relaxed.

That's what happened today when I went out to lunch at one of my regular haunts.  There's a waitress there that I know casually; we recognize each other and chat a bit when I come in - an acquaintance of an hour day once or twice a month over several years.  Without having seen me more than two minutes she commented about me not being in for a while (expected) and that I looked better and more relaxed than I had for a while (way not expected.)

I also had two people (a work friend on Tuesday and an even more casual acquaintance in the vendor who fills the soda and junk food machines in the facility today) tell me I seem to have lost weight and look really good.  The "really good" comment came from the youngish gentleman vendor. ! I also heard from aforementioned friend that the lady who mostly filled in for me commented to her that if this is the sort of thing I put up with regularly (meaning how my boss dealt with her for the last couple of months) it's no wonder I'm grouchy all the time.

Apparently those two months off - despite being for an injury - were one of the better work-related things to happen to me in the last few years.  An unexpected benefit but I'll take it.  Here's hoping I can keep the good feeling going long enough to successfully transition somewhere else.
