Makes huge changes.
Masahide-san finished cleaning up the patch on the stairwell wall. All that's left there is a little sanding, adding a bit of texture, then priming and painting. Not so much at all. It will be a bit time consuming, simply because there are two layers of primer and two of paint, both of which have to dry in between applications.
While waiting for the mud to dry, we got the first section of blue paint onto the north wall of the spare room. Since it's a darkish color on primer, it looks like one application is all that's needed, so outside of a little touch-up at the ceiling, it's done. All I can say is wow ... It's bright. And dramatic. And not what I'd expect for me to have chosen even though I did. It certainly makes a huge change in the room. I'll be buying a quart of the dark blue for the bottom (since a gallon was way, way too much for the top part) and getting a fresh chunk of chair-rail to put up, probably this week. I also happen to have fabric that seems to match pretty well with which to make curtains, although that, like getting a new shade, may have to wait a little while. I'll probably start by tacking it up over the window to see if I like it and all the color.
Since it's paint over wallpaper (I belatedly found out one of the original owners painted over it, rather than taking it down {sigh}) if I can't stand the way things look, I'll just take the wallpaper down and start over. But not for a while.

At lot of change for a little work for this bit.
