Proceeding Apace

The general contractor and a crew of one are supposed to arrive this morning between 8:00 and 8:30 depending on traffic to begin the tearing down of wallpaper in four different locations in my house.  (Bathroom, under the stairs and exterior bathroom wall, one dining room wall, and about two feet of kitchen wall.)  This will be the first actual step in restoring order to my home which is beginning, predictibly enough, by creating more chaos.

I managed to get the stuff under the stairs packed down, as well as the things in the glass display case by my door, but beyond that have not had the energy or will to do much else.  I'm going to ask today how much more of that will need to be done and when based on what the general contractor is planning on doing, since I'll be gone for four days at the wedding.  And I still have to figure out where to store the boxes while everything is happening.  All of a sudden my house seems quite a bit smaller than it actually is.

I have managed to choose carpet (and incidentally a paint color if I ever manage to do something to the paneling to make painting possible.)  arwensouth will be taking the carpet samples back to the flooring place for me during her lunch hour today, since their hours make it virtually impossible for me to get there on a weekday, os the ordering process can begin.  Hopefully the carpet mill will have this in stock or will be able to get it quickly so things can proceed withiout a lengthy wait for them to build/acquire what I want.  I'd really like to have this all done by early July.

The color is amber ... something which of course now completely escapes me.  It's warm and cosy looking actually inside my house and goes well with the paint color, tantalizing entitled "Melted Butter".  (The entire series of colors had names like that.  We needed to get a snack after looking at paint chips.)
