One of Those About Me Post Things
I should start this by saying I'm verbose. I ramble. I don't know when to shut up, when to stop, and the one reason I survived Grad School with such amazing grades was the help of my classmates as editors.
I love history. No really. I am currently paying back student loans the level of which would buy most people a car and a really small house because of this love. I have a BA and a MA and am very proud of both. My focus is Public History with tons of work spent on World War II in Europe, but more focused on cultural impacts/the Holocaust/the rise of Fascist Italy. I started off in Classics. Go figure. History does not love me back, which is why my current job is, well, let's just say it's retail hell and I will bitch about it.
I curse like a sailor. I get it from my grandmother, a tiny Irish-American woman from Hell's Kitchen.
As one of my friends said, I've raised sarcasm from an art form to a lifestyle.
I'm from Upstate New York, I've lived in NC for many years of my life and am there once again, and I spent four years in the frozen tundra of New England. I love noting the regional differences of these areas, but my happiest times ever were in the frozen tundra.
I'm a twin, my sister has severe CP. Her name's Carrie and I will talk about her a lot.
I love books. I own more books than anything else and as someone bordering on hoarder-level, that's saying a lot.
Music is one of my favorite things in the world. I'll listen to anything pretty much once. I was raised on Folk and Classic Rock, but my personal tastes run anywhere from Rap to Bluegrass and back.
I watch more tv than movies. Most tv I watch is crime based. My favorite tv shows on the air right now are: Justified, Castle, Blue Bloods, NCIS, HIMYM, TBBT. Past loves are Criminal Minds, CSI, L&O:SVU, Grey's Anatomy, Dead Like Me, Rubicon, Firefly, SGA and various others.
I have a weakness for trashy reality tv.
My current fandoms are: Tolkien, The Pacific, Band of Brothers, and Generation Kill, and Spartacus.
Tolkien fic currently lives at windwailing. Band of Brothers, The Pacific, and Generation Kill fandom related things are at larks_still_fly. Spartacus fandom stuff is at longwayverse for that 'verse alone with everything else at rebelsandromans. Everything else is at river_home or veiledsight.
