What worked for us when leaving the house:

(BTW, not a good idea to keep the crate in your bedroom according to most dog behavior people.) We turned on the TV (in another room) and then turned on a radio in the room with his crate. The noise is distracting to them and they're still getting some stimulus. Also, it's good to do the things you would normally do before leaving at various times throughout the day. It helps with separation anxiety. So, put on shoes, grab your keys, etc. Leave that stuff on you for a bit and then put it all away again. Just stuff that worked for us.

BTW, nothing new. I've been good. Getting excited for the baby to come in August. Beyond that, just working.
