Oh, this is good! I actually just beat the game last night and since then have been searching for a decent fic. Unfortunately, I've spent the past few hours furiously back clicking out of stories where I couldn't stand Minato.

But this is great! I especially like how well it ties in with the game! Now onto the next part :D

That's high praise indeed! (Also, props to you for staying out of fandom until you finished the game -- I caved roundabout June and went looking for yaoi, spoilers be damned.)

I don't understand how some people think Minato is distant or uncaring or empty. I don't even think he's that much of an enigma (even though I'm only in November, and don't know my own backstory yet). He's just...contemplative. Maybe I just see/put too much of myself into the character to think badly of him? In any case, I'm very pleased that people are enjoying the characterization here, because that's SO my internal monologue running through his head, and (sadly) I don't happen to be a Japanese schoolboy. ; )

Aw thanks. I was stuck for a VERY long time, but I've finally got the next chapter banged out. Unfortunately, I need to get a little bit farther into part 5 before I'm sure that part 4 won't need to change at all. Thanks for the continued interest -- it IS coming!!

How is the fan art going?

The icon creators generally referenced obtaining the art thru 4chan. Much of it seems to have originally come from Japanese fans. The ability/tolerance to troll thru foreign-language websites would probably help you find more...but ugh, so hard.

I don't *get* Shinji on this deep level the way many people seem to, but Shinji with a Pikachu on his head? Never fails to brighten my day.
