One of our previous cats, Oliver did the same thing. My mother had found him raggedy and starving in the parking lot of her work,. He would make a sounf almost like crying every night for a while, like he was searching for someone. However, once he was settled in, which took about a month, the crying lessened and eventually stoppped. i don't know if it will be the same for you or not, but for Oliver it justseemed like maybe he got scared in the middle of the night and forgot where he was, until he felt like home.

Damn. that was long. sorriew.

Nah it wasn't that long. And he seems to be gradually improving and feeling better wandering on his own. He's done the best today rarely meowing (in a panicked way- he still talks a lot) and taking naps underneath the furniture. I'm beginning to feel much better about him getting accustomed to an indoor life. Anyways thanks for sharing that perhaps its not such an abnormal response in such cases.
