Weekend before last I headed to KC to see the Songlers, Jess, Lindsey, and the
Songler's new couch. I am pleased to report that it sleeps acceptably well.
Eric and Jen bought me dinner at a Thai noodle place Saturday night, and I bought them breakfast at the City Diner on Sunday morning/noonish. Both were very good.
The next weekend, (Lets just ignore weekdays for the time being, shall we?) I noticed before leaving for St. Louis that the worn spot on my belt was showing. It has not since disappeared, so I thinkg I can declare a minor victory for the forces of not-fat-ness.
That weekend I went home to StL for a couple of reasons. First, the house was dangerously low on rice, olive oil, and parmesan. Sam's Club to the rescue! Secondly, I got to see my parents for a little while. (My dad for a very little while.) Thirdly, I dropped by the Miniature Museum of St. Louis' show to buy a birthday gift for Kat.
While we were there, we also met up with Don, Hippy, and Matt. The first night they were playing starcraft. The next night we went out with Laura and her brother Matt, then caught up with the others at CuppaJo, which is a not-bad coffee place in St. Chuck. The atmosphere isn't as good as Java Jazz n Blues (which has been gone for the past few years unfortunately), but the coffee is better, and the tea is amazing. The guy at CuppaJo listened when we told him we liked our tea strong. So he made our Scottish tea in an espresso machine. It was really, really good. Between dinner and CuppaJo, I introduced Matt to Lukas Liquor Superstore.
While there I picked up a 6 pack of the O'Fallon (local microbrew) Pumpkin Ale. It's quite tasty. Kind of subtle on the pumpkin pie flavor, and very good.
School goes. Lots of crap being piled on me at once, but I'm staying on top of stuff so far.
This week I have:
Monday -soft eng phase 1 - done
Thursday -Java Lab05 - done
Thursday -CS412 Test Thursday
Friday -CS412 Homework 2 - weboql
Hopefully we can get the weboql implementation done on time. It's a group project, so we should be able to pull it off. I think if I really had to, I could do it on my own, but I really don't want to. The test is open book, open note, open everything. I've been doing well in CS412 so far, so it shouldn't be too bad.
I skipped Java today because I was simply too tired to go. On the upside, I'm done with the program due Thursday, and the useful part of the class is reading the slides and doing the programs.
Kat took my car to St. Louis today, and I'll probably be going to St. Louis again this weekend for another shopping trip. It would also be nice to see my parents for a bit longer this time.
In final news,
denney.2nw.net has been inaccessable for a day or two. Hopefully it'll get straightened out soon, and you're reading this on that particular site.
