Kenshin’s eyes widened when he felt Kaoru shift weakly. Cold understanding made him cling to her shoulders worriedly but this cause a hiss to pass her lips. He instantly let go and help her sit.
Behind them Tomoe chuckled, exhilaration making her seem even more ruthless than normal. “I did it!” she chimed happily, “I beat her.”
Angry violet eyes quickly turned to gold when the whole situation slowly sank into his gut. Kaoru was wounded, and crying, on his arms while Tomoe danced but a few feet away, joyous at her low-earned victory. This simply won’t do. This was wrong.
Anger started to seep down Kenshin’s center and slowly coiled menacingly. Soon enough the concentration of energy started to make the leaves dance quicker, the winds hit harder and chillier and the earth started a strange rumble.
Instantly Tomoe’s face sobered and her eyes stared at her surroundings nervously. “What’s…what’s going on?” she asked unsurely, randomly moving to the side and where her instincts told her it was safer. Sadly, there was no safe zone… every single feet square of forest around Kenshin was just as dangerous.
Blind rage, fueled by golden eyes, sent a flurry of winds towards Tomoe, making the woman fall down onto her rear. The woman screamed, truly frightened but Kenshin didn’t stop. The wind under his command began to form a small tornado, fallen leaves, broken twigs and branches soon joined the mayhem and together they threw themselves at Tomoe. She did her best to try to get away but the wind’s pursuit didn’t relent.
That was, until Enishi appeared and with a flick of his wrist and a dangerous pulse of power broke through Kenshin’s wind. The wind was quick to disperse and everything slowly returned to normal.
“Tomoe won, Elemental,” Enishi said with an even tone and a stern face. Aqua eyes met furious gold but none of them backed from each other’s gaze. “We must honor the rules.”
Kenshin’s lips parted and in his arms Kaoru’s body stiffened.
Enishi took quick notice of their change, but did not comment on it. “Tomoe, you will be coming with me,” he ordered softly and the injured woman quickly came to her feet, a wide and joyous smile taking away all the pain and fear that had poured on her pretty face but a few moments ago. “Kaoru… will you come?”
Kaoru took a deep breath, but did not turn towards Enishi for a full minute. When she did…Enishi’s shoulders sagged, “Enishi-sama…” she tried weakly.
He sighed, “I understand,” he finally said and then looked Kenshin up and down, “A deal is a deal. I will come collect you when his soul moves to the other realm.”
Then the white haired Esper left the field, quietly followed by an eager Halfling.
