Up here in Ontario, Canada, this past weekend was a long one, what with the Civic Holiday on Monday. While I admit I used that day to relax, it left me with a lot of fun stuff over the weekend.
On Saturday, I biked over and met up with a bunch of furs at Canada's Wonderland for the day (six of us total); we went to the waterpark around noon, splashing about on the lazy river and collection of waterslides until about 2 pm. Much fun was had by all, until the crowds arrived and everyone switched out of their bathing suits. They took a trip on White Water Canyon while I got waterblasted from Timberwolf Falls (ride, then bridge - it was needed).
We all went over to MadFerret's house after, to order some pizza; some poor organization and mixed messages left us with hour-late food, but since it was free, nobody complained. We returned to the park soon after for some dry rides: Dragon Fire, WindSeeker (the new ride; it was okay, but the spinning didn't help), SkyRider and Minebuster, before watching the light show and heading over to finish the day at Behemoth.
I was encouraged to upgrade to a Season Pass, but decided not to; while it's fun, the park is expensive and multiple trips per year would probably ruin it for me. After a midnight bike ride home (poor planning; I really should get some lights for my bike next time), I hit the hay to prepare for Sunday.
My Sunday plans were originally simple: bike to the SkyDome, grab my ticket, head off for lunch and return to line up for a bobblehead and game. I wasn't counting on morning rain when I reached Bedford Park (putting me on the subway), or huge crowds lined up to enter the stadium - that changed my plans quickly.
I got my ticket and joined the lineup; 15 minutes after the gates opened, they were out at my entrance, but I got in. Managing to sneak down to another gate, I joined another crowd to grab one, before getting an expensive stadium lunch and heading to my seat upstairs.
The roof soon opened, and we were treated to a special ceremony to honour Roberto Alomar (newly-inducted hall-of-famer, and the first to be depicted in a Blue Jays cap) and retire his number. The sell-out crowd was a fun experience, and the Jays won to boot. All in all, it was worth it.
So after a fun weekend, it's back to the grind; I've got some weekend plans coming up (birthday party, maybe a furry baseball game, and a possibility of Taste of the Danforth festivities), but it'll be hard to top last weekend.
